…in some cases no treatment or no surgery is the best decision.

You should especially consider an operation if:

  • they are not mentally stable
  • do not want scars (in the case of surgery)
  • can't really afford it and you put the costs under additional pressure

In these cases, we also advise against treatment. A later date may be more suitable or your priorities may change anyway.

Taking enough time to make a decision is always good advice.

Read Advice for more self-esteem (without but also with/after an operation). Because working on your self-esteem never hurts! 🙂

decision-making aids

Essentially, these are fundamental decisions, which affects every decision for or against a plastic surgery/aesthetic surgery operation or treatment. Sometimes a treatment/operation is simply not suitable at the moment, but after a long period of reflection. If in doubt, I would always wait and not rush into anything!

1

Should I have surgery/treatment do it at all? – Sometimes it is better not to do something at all.

Good advice highlights all the advantages and disadvantages of a treatment – and thus helps you make the right decision.

2

Psyche: A stable mental state is a prerequisite for an operation in the field of plastic surgery or aesthetic surgery. In case of doubt, the plastic surgeon is also obliged to have the patient examined by specialists in this field before the operation: a specialist in neurology and psychiatry or a psychologist. In this case, you will receive a referral with the relevant questions.

3

Risks/Side Effects/Disadvantages:

Every operation has risks or side effects (which may or may not occur) as well as disadvantages (which also occur in normal or optimal cases – e.g. scars, etc.)

Weighing up and evaluating the advantages and disadvantages is the prerequisite for making the right individual decision.

No surgeon in the world (not even the best, whoever that may be) can rule out risks/side effects. He can reduce them to a minimum through good planning and a good concept as well as conscientious execution. But he cannot rule them out.

It is also important to always point out the disadvantages that always occur: scars (they are basically never invisible), costs, downtime, psychological stress of an operation, change (some patients have to come to terms with even a positive change), etc.

The decision can only be made by the patient themselves with the support of the doctor. And the decision will always be individual from case to case.

4

Cost

Experience shows that patients who cannot really afford surgery are more likely to be unhappy with the results of surgery than those who are not financially willing to put everything on beauty. If you cannot really afford it and are therefore under pressure, it is certainly worth considering whether you should undergo surgery.

5

time pressure

An operation requires time and a certain amount of rest. If the operation means time pressure, it is better to postpone it.

You should avoid…

  • having too high expectations of the result and the associated changes
  • not allowing enough time to make the right decision

our recommendation

  • take your time to make the right decision
  • do operations/aesthetic treatments only for yourself, and not for others or the environment
  • If you don't have enough time, money or resilience for an operation, it's probably better to wait for a better time. Or to decide against an operation.
