Nanofat Autologous Fat – Synonyms & Principle

principle: gentle volume effect with stem cell effect, especially in the lower eyelid area and the rest of the face, for scars, etc.

efficiency

the volume effect is processed deliberately reduced. This also makes the effect finer and more seamless (large fat cells that show unevenly through the fine lower eyelid skin were the reason for the development of nanofat)

The effect is mainly towards regeneration, freshness and slight firming through the fine volume

However, the risk of large fat cells can be reduced by the method

A treatment with nanofat can be repeated at any time - and in some cases this is necessary. With autologous fat transfer (including nanofat), there is a limit to the amount that can be transplanted per procedure. If this limit is exceeded, cyst formation, scarring, etc. will increasingly occur.

Application in which body region

basically almost everywhere on the body – most common in our case:

Face: Brow/temple, midface, lower eyelid, upper eyelid, jaw angle and chin line, corner of the mouth, nasolabial, ...

Hands: back of the hand

Scars: for the regeneration and improvement of scar tissue (usually after preparatory needling or injection of enzymes or sometimes cortisone)

alternatives

• hyaluronic acid – but main effect limited (usually 1 year +/-)
• PRP (=blood plasma) – but significantly less volume effect

Essentially, these are fundamental decisionsthat constitute a nanofat treatment.

Should I have a nanofat transfer do it at all? – Sometimes it is the better decision not to do something.

The faster and easier alternative is e.g. hyaluronic acid

Combination:

Very often, autologous fat is used as a supplement during facial surgery (e.g. facelift - in this case, a downtime of about 10 days is to be expected anyway).

However, smaller areas can also be treated and improved in isolation under local anesthesia.

Stitch=scar (but only very rarely problematic here)

One to several mini (approx. 1mm) punctures are necessary for each treated area. Anyone with extremely bad scarring should consider treatment with nanofat. As an alternative, a method using hyaluronic acid is available that requires much smaller punctures.

quantity limit

The useful amount of fat per treatment is limited – if it is exceeded, there is no more effect – but less!

Every fat cell needs a connection to the vascular system - otherwise it will be broken down by the body, liquefied or scarred. It is basically like planting small plants. Once the plants reach a certain density, you don't harvest more - you harvest less. Every plant needs its area of supply.

However, the treatment can easily be repeated. We recommend a minimum interval of 2-3 months.

Nanofat & Lower Eyelids

The lower eyelid region is particularly suitable for nanofat (if the indication is right = suitable situation with not too much excess skin, etc.). Hyaluronic acid tends to cause swelling (even long-term or permanent swelling) and irregularities in this area. Since nanofat is worked into the skin over a very large area and as evenly as possible, an uneven surface in our hands is unlikely. Nanofat is 100% its own material, so swelling as a reaction to the material (as with hyaluronic acid) can be ruled out. Nevertheless, swelling due to the manipulation of the tissue (especially in the lower eyelid area) can be a certain issue for a few weeks or months.

Why nanofat – when there is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is not as uncomplicated and magical as some magazines or advertisements make it out to be. Swelling (even permanent) and reactions such as hardening and granulomas can be an issue. If possible, you should avoid introducing material into a vessel with hyaluronic acid and your own fat - but this is relatively unlikely in each case. Nanofat is 100% natural and your own material - so there can be no reaction to the material. And swelling is also limited in time with nanofat.

In summary, good preparation (information, explanation, preliminary examinations, analysis, etc.) and the surgeon’s experience are the most important factors for a successful autologous fat transfer with nanofat

You should avoid…

• overdose – only a certain amount of (well-distributed) fat cells can heal at any one time
• Autologous fat as a solution for everything – If excess skin and weak tissue are an issue in the lower eyelid area, a classic lower eyelid lift should be preferred as the first choice – but nanofat can usually be combined well with other operations

Deadlines must be met in Austria (surgical information and anesthesia information) – this means that there is a waiting period of at least 3-4 weeks from the decision to undergo breast enlargement, but often longer.

No blood thinning until 10 days before the operation. Also avoid citrus fruits and ginger during this time!

We will inform you if a psychological report may be necessary before your surgery.
