In the case of labia hypertrophy, i.e. an enlargement of the labia minora, wearing certain clothing such as tight pants, bikinis, thongs or certain sportswear, cycling, horse riding and even sexual intercourse can be stressful for those affected. The labia serve to close the genital opening and protect the vagina from infections, foreign bodies and drying out. However, labia that are too small cannot fulfil this function. In this context, maintaining the balance between form and function plays an important role in the correction. Many years of experience are therefore important for labia correction, intimate correction or labia reduction.
We perform labia correction, intimate correction and labia reduction gently, usually under local anesthesia. If desired, twilight sleep or a short and gentle general anesthesia is also possible. No stitches need to be removed and the scars are usually unproblematic.

Excess tissue:
labia minora: If there is several mm of excess skin or tissue, surgical reduction of the labia minora makes sense. But asymmetries or pain (especially during sports, sexual intercourse, etc.) can also be reasons for labia correction.
labia majora: here it is always about the ratio of the labia minora to the labia majora. How much is missing in the area of the labia majora is always an individual decision.
Function: For many women, it is more about the function or pain during certain activities than about the appearance. In most cases, there is a clear improvement in this regard. Of course, scars can also cause problems and pull or be painful. That is why a medical history regarding scar and wound healing is important.
Pains after the correction of the labrum are possible. With appropriate rest and suitable pain medication, the issue of pain is kept to a minimum. In the first few days after the operation, you should not move too much so as not to irritate the wound. Some patients work with supports to relieve the pressure on the wound (swimming rings, etc.). After the swelling has gone down (usually around the 3rd day), symptoms in the sense of pain also improve.
Hygiene: This is of course an issue in the labia area after surgery. After every toilet visit, the wound should be carefully rinsed with clean soapy water. Disinfectant spray can also help. Always use a clean and, above all, dry pad that is soft and does not irritate.
What should you have heard/read before a labia correction?
Pains: are often an issue before surgery (cycling, horse riding, sex, etc.). The labia region is naturally very sensitive the first few days after the procedure, but can be easily controlled with appropriate painkillers. To ensure that pulling caused by firmer scar tissue does not become an issue after the wound has healed, the wound/scar should be regularly cared for with scar ointment and massaged softly from around the 10th day after the operation.

- removal of too much skin – In order to improve the ratio of the inner to the outer labia, it may be useful in some cases to increase the volume of the outer labia (with hyaluronic acid or your own fat). However, you should not try to optimize the ratio by overcorrecting the inner labia.
