Any excess skin that has been removed will not grow back. But of course the tissue in the eye area and also the eyebrow area, for example, weakens as we get older. This can lead to new excess skin - which is sometimes removed again by surgery. This can be the case after a few years or even decades.

A small amount of excess skin can be tightened using jet plasma.

If the area around the eyebrow is sagging, an eyebrow lift (with surgery or with Botox & hyaluronic acid) can sometimes be more useful as a supplement than another upper eyelid lift.

Excess skin:

lower eyelid: There are always several treatment options here – this is one of the most complex areas in medical aesthetic surgery. Professional advice and information is crucial here!

• The lower eyelid edge must be sufficiently stable for a safe lower eyelid lift
• The middle face and eyebrow must be sufficiently stable

Where should the cut = scar best placed?

Incision = scar. This applies to all operations. In principle, the shorter the incision, the better. However, a longer incision can also result in a better shape. So it's important to find a suitable compromise.

In the upper eyelid area, you should not be afraid of a slightly longer cut outwards. It opens the eyes and ensures a good shrinkage outwards and upwards. This makes the eye look harmonious after the operation. A short cut outwards at any price can make the eye appear round and owl-like.

There are many treatment/surgery options in the lower eyelid area:

• direct incision with skin removal
• incision in the conjunctiva
• with or without fat removal or fat transfer
• combination with Jett Plasma
• combination with blood plasma

What should you have heard/read before an eyelid lift?

Ptosis: In the lower eyelid area, a certain stability of the lower eyelid edge is crucial. It is of no use if the skin is as tight as possible, but the lower eyelid edge looks sadly downwards or the white of the eye becomes increasingly visible. This is what happens when the lower eyelid becomes loose (=ptosis)

Prejudices

Jett plasma is an eyelid lift without surgery and much more gentle: not true… downtime is almost the same

Upper eyelid lift with laser is better and more modern: My personal opinion is that cutting with a cold scalpel is very gentle, precise and modern. Lasers work with heat and always cause tissue burns, which can lead to problems such as UV sensitivity, wound irritation, etc.

The upper eyelid lift is one of the most common surgical aesthetic operations for women and men. And given the large number of operations performed each year, the risk is certainly very easy to calculate.

The lower eyelid lift is much more complex and therefore needs to be planned much better and more precisely and individually adapted.
