Cellulite treatment – What is cellulite and what helps?
Cellulite treatment should be targeted at different areas. The cause has several components. Therefore, a combination therapy is usually the most effective. The thighs and buttocks are often affected. In any case, a precise analysis is necessary: Three causes are primarily responsible for cellulite:
- Transverse bands pull the skin surface inwards - one severing the ligaments can help. This treatment is usually possible under local anesthesia and on an outpatient basis. Volume deficits can then be filled using fat transfer. A single treatment is almost always sufficient. You can usually go out in public again straight away afterwards.
- poor fat tissue distribution in the subcutaneous fat tissue – a reduction of fat cells makes sense – here Fat freezing = cryoliposculpting help or a reorganization of the fat cells through liposuction and redistribution. Last but not least, of course, exercise and a regular healthy diet.
- loose connective tissue: genetically determined, skin aging or weight fluctuations – several approaches can bring about improvement here: Ultrasonic, needling & radio frequency, biostimulating hyaluronic acid or Radiesse
Worldwide, up to 80% of women are affected by cellulite in their lifetime. Due to our genes, blood circulation or the structure of our skin and connective tissue, cellulite occurs more frequently with the aging process. But not all cellulite is the same. As with "wrinkles" on the face, it is important to analyse the reasons for the dimples before any treatment in order to be able to offer an individually tailored treatment.

decision-making aids
Essentially, these are fundamental decisionsthat make up a cellulite treatment.
Should I have a cellulite treatment do it at all? – Sometimes it is the better decision not to do something.
The treatment in the sense of loosening the tissue bands under the skin surface followed by fat transfer is usually a very effective operation, but it also requires a certain amount of effort.
loosening of the connective tissue strands
Bands of tissue under the skin connect the skin at certain points with the underlying tissue and form individual fat cell chambers.
These tissue bands can become increasingly hardened and pull inwards, pushing the fat accumulated in the chambers outwards. This causes dents in the skin. The skin appears uneven in these places.
By loosening the hardened connective tissue strands (with special needles, sometimes also special systems), the pressure on the fatty tissue decreases and the surface becomes more uniform
lining with your own fat
An additional improvement can be achieved by introducing the patient's own fat into the area of the loose connective tissue strands. This makes the overall effect even better.
Wound should not be underestimated
Although good results can be achieved with this method, the amount of wound surface that is produced should not be underestimated. The treatment is an operation that should be well planned in terms of downtime and rest.
how many regions at once?
It is often more useful to treat each region individually rather than as many regions as possible at once.
What should you have heard/read before cellulite treatment/surgery?
Since this is an operation (especially if the patient's own fat is used - which is recommended), the operation should be well planned in terms of rest and downtime.

- bruises, bleeding
- infection
- scars
- (usually temporary) numb feeling, very rarely permanent
- no/little success
details Information on possible complications can be found in the information documents
In summary, good preparation (information, explanation, preliminary examinations, analysis, etc.) and the surgeon’s experience are important factors for the success of cellulite treatment
You should avoid…
to underestimate the treatment effort –
The treatment is most effective when cutting the connective tissue strands is combined with autologous fat transfer.
And this combination requires a certain amount of effort and cannot be completed in a lunch break.
anesthesia
Possible anesthesiaforms for cellulite treatment
- Local anesthesia
- twilight sleep
the operation
Deadlines must be met in Austria (surgical information and anesthesia information) – this means that there is a waiting period of at least 3-4 weeks from the decision to undergo breast enlargement, but often longer.
No blood-thinning medication until at least 10 days before treatment
THINKING POSITIVELY – helps. It not only prolongs life, but is also always a good first step towards any treatment or operation.
the operation
Rest for 3 weeks in the sense of:
- do not lift more than 5-6kg
- no jerky movements
- additionally no pressure on the fat-transplanted areas for 2-3 months after the treatment!
our preferred technique/recommendation
- Combination of loosening the strands with lining with autologous fat
- Anesthesia: Local anesthesia or twilight sleep
