Botox is THE buzzword for aesthetic treatments and cosmetic medicine. Botox is often misused. It has nothing to do with snake venom.
With the correct dosage, it has nothing to do with unnatural paralysis. In beauty journals or magazines, you'll often see "Botox" under a photo with an unnatural result. These photos usually have to do with excessive volume or excessive surgery – and nothing to do with a skilled Botox treatment.
A video would be more informative than a photo for assessing Botox. Botox is primarily about movement.
Botox – Where and how does it work?
The facial muscles are connected to the facial skin. If the facial muscles tense, a visible wrinkle appears. Repeated tensing of the facial muscles leads to a permanent deepening of facial wrinklesThese wrinkles near the eyes or on the forehead can be effectively treated with the active ingredient botulinum toxin A – known under the registered trade name Botox. smoothed for about half a year become.
Recently, the so-called lip flipBotox relaxes the muscles above the lips, tilting the lip edge upward and outward. This effect emphasizes the red of the lips. WITHOUT additional volume.

Botox – Synonyms & Principle
Synonyms and terms: Botulinum, Botulinum Toxin, Botox Treatment, Baby Botox
Products: Dysport, Botox, Xeomin
principle: Muscle relaxation for about half a year – mostly to reduce wrinkles – but also to prevent sweating, for migraines, etc.
is often combined with…
- hyaluronic acid
- blood plasma
- Operations such as eyelid lift, facelift, etc.
efficiency
Depending on the dosage, muscle relaxation can be slight to very strong. Experience has shown that the degree of effectiveness also depends on:
- excess skin over the region
- fabric strength
- Need for moisture and volume in the region = Hyaluron
Regarding sweating, the success rate is very high, the duration of the effect can range from 3-4, on average 6 to 7-8-9-12 months (if a small residual effect is sufficient) – on average it is about 5 1/2 months
treatment duration
On average, a Botox treatment only takes a few minutes. It is more time-consuming to create a precise, meaningful concept before treatment in the sense of clarifying the regions, dosages, possibilities and limitations…
repetition of the treatment
For a good effect, treatment intervals of 5-6 months realistic. However, the duration of the effect depends on a number of individual factors and is not always the same - the duration of the effect can range from 3-4 months to 8-9 months.
Regular use of Botox usually works to prevent wrinkles (i.e. wrinkles do not appear as pronounced in the first place) – but on the other hand, as people get older, excess skin may grow, which can reduce the effectiveness, make it necessary to repeat the treatment more frequently, or make additional treatments or operations necessary.
Application in which body region
- frown lines
- crow's feet
- forehead wrinkles
- against sweating: armpits, forehead, soles of the feet, possibly palms of the hands
- against migraines: temple, forehead, side of the eye, back of the head, etc.
decision-making aids
Essentially, these are fundamental decisionsthat make up a Botox treatment.
Should I have Botox treatment do it at all? – Sometimes it is better not to do something at all.
Good advice highlights all the advantages and disadvantages of a treatment – and thus helps you make the right decision.
Regions: One of the most common regions – with which you can also start very well and safely – is the treatment of frown linesOther regions may be added later.
Dose: A perfectly tailored dose is crucial. This can range from baby Botox to good relaxation. Totally switching off and paralyzing muscle groups is theoretically possible - but is rarely in demand in Europe - and is not recommended!
It is important Naturalness & Freshness as well as an overall harmony of the face
where not? - there are regions where other means are stronger and more predictable - an example of this is the corner of the mouth: Botox can relax the angle of the mouth depressor here (as a supplement it is certainly useful) - but mostly volume is lacking here - and therefore hyaluronic acid is the first choice here.
Every face is different – every treatment is different: In my opinion, individual adjustment to the face and its anatomy is crucial for maximum harmony and balance.
What should you have heard/read before a Botox treatment?
bruises: are simply not to be ruled out. Every prick (no matter how small the needle) can theoretically cause a bruise. And just like when you hit yourself somewhere, a bruise takes several days to slowly disappear.
Asymmetry: Whenever there are two sides, there will be an asymmetry before and after the treatment. No two halves of the face are the same, and eye sockets are often a few millimeters different in height. It is impossible and unrealistic to promise a symmetrical result. But of course the goal is always to achieve the most symmetrical result possible. This can be optimized, for example, in the eyebrow area with different amounts of Botox (=relaxation=lengthening) or hyaluronic acid (=volume=lifting).
Prejudices
Botox is toxic: not true… The dose makes the poison. Botox is approved in America for children with torticollis – from toddler age and in larger quantities for aesthetic use
Botox is dangerous: This is not usually true...
facts
Botox treatments are among the most common medical-aesthetic treatments. When used correctly, it means a fresher look and not an artificial appearance. The risk is extremely easy to calculate. The effect and range of effects can be predicted very precisely.
Permanent side effects are practically impossible.
In comparison, hyaluronic acid is definitely the “riskier” product. With Botox, there are no comparable problems with intolerances or injections of material into blood vessels (Botox is dissolved in liquid saline).
most common possible side effects / complications
- Asymmetry (but always present on two sides to a certain extent)
- bruise
- possible swelling
The information provided in the package for Botox is actually very clear!
details Information on possible complications can be found in the information documents
Botox has a bad reputation in the media, but this is unfounded.
Botox is extremely good and can be dosed very precisely. The effect can be calculated very precisely. By taking the individual facial anatomy into account and having a good feel for the right dosage, very natural and precise results can be achieved.
You should avoid…
- excessive dosages
- treatments according to the same pattern – Every face is different!
anesthesia
possibilities for pain reduction
- Ice cooling works very effectively and usually makes sense
- pain-reducing cream if necessary – but in the eye area it is sometimes more of a problem if you accidentally get strong pain creams in your eyes – often the benefit is less than you think
- Take a painkiller such as Parkemed 500mg 1-2 hours before treatment
the treatment
If possible, do not take any blood-thinning medication one week before the planned Botox treatment – at least not in high doses for a longer period of time – otherwise it may be advisable to postpone a Botox treatment.
For patients who are very sensitive to pain, a pain-reducing tablet before treatment can help
Botox should not be administered during pregnancy or while breastfeeding
the treatment
protect the treated area
- For example, it is better not to plan a massage in the first few days after the Botox treatment – in other words, do not press your forehead (and perhaps one side) onto a hard surface for more than an hour, and be a little more careful with the pressure when removing make-up
- Do not remove makeup with alcohol – alcohol can reduce the effect of Botox
- not necessarily work headfirst for a few days
The effect only sets in after 1-2-3 days, but it can take 2 or sometimes 3 weeks for the effect to really take hold. Until then, a feeling of fullness or a slight feeling of pressure in the forehead/brow area can often occur, which usually goes away.
our preferred technique/recommendation
- individual adaptation to the facial anatomy and, if necessary, asymmetries
- less is more!
- reduce pain as much as possible with good ice cooling
Cost
160-200 Botox per region including treatment – depending on the actual amount and effort
reasonable budget
Basically, you always determine the price or your budget yourself. Depending on the quantity, a desired budget is determined
It is usually better to treat all 3 regions in the upper third of the face with a smaller amount than just one isolated region
A final cost estimate is only possible and meaningful after a detailed on-site inspection and clarification of individual wishes.
downtime
usually no
Important to know…
- Treating the forehead area alone is usually not a good idea – always treat at least the upper eye point (=eye opener)
- There is no antidote to Botox. It is therefore better to dose carefully and add to it or use more in the next treatment. More is always possible. It is not really possible to take away the effect (but it is often possible to a certain extent by strengthening antagonistic muscles).
- Botox can also be used very effectively against annoying sweating – especially in the armpit area
