The idea behind a deep-plane facelift is through more effort & risk a more effect The idea is not new. Even as a young plastic surgeon, I was eager to learn, attending conferences in the USA. At the time, a twin study showed that additional risk does not necessarily have to pay off. Even gentle facelift variants are extremely effective with the right concept. At the time, the study was about comparing two facelifts on identical twins. The competitors were Sam Hamra (deep) and Daniel Baker (SMAS-Plication). At a conference, both results were compared and evaluated by colleagues. It turned out that no technique was superior to the other.

Thanks to Dr. Andrew Jacono (who performed Marc Jacobs' facelift), the deep plane facelift is becoming popular again. It loosens several muscle bands on the skull bone in order to rotate the sunken cheek volume back into place, for example. The pulling during a classic facelift can sometimes lead to unnatural results and the "windswept" look associated with "superficial" facelifts. With a deep plane facelift, the tightening process takes place deep in the muscles, so that the skin, muscles and fat structures remain untouched.

What anesthesia is used?

This is decided in consultation with the surgeon and anesthetist. We offer you primarily a twilight sleep or in some cases also a gentle general anesthesia Each form of anesthesia has certain advantages and disadvantages. Ultimately, it is usually an individual decision. Aspects that can play a role in the decision are:

• man doesn't notice anything from the operation - fall asleep... wake up... and everything is done. The injection of the local anesthetic is usually not that bad. But if you don't want to notice anything during the operation, you're better off with a twilight sleep.

Do I have to stay overnight for my Deep Plane Facelift in Klagenfurt / Carinthia?

You should take it easy for 2-3 weeks. With sensitivity and common sense, you will usually be able to take it easy enough. The basic rule is: do not lift more than 5kg, do not make any sudden movements, do not work overhead.

But you are not sick, which means you should move around. The operated area should be protected, however. When lying down, turning to the left and right is permitted and advisable. Otherwise, you risk back pain if you just lie on your back with cramps. Obviously, you should not lie on the operated area or the surgical wound itself.
